Pinch Pot

My next art project, was a pinch pot. I started off with a good amount of clay and started wedging it. The first time i wedged it, I cut it in half to see if there were any bubbles. After i cut it, there was a bubble so i knew that i had wedged it wrong. I did it again and saw that i had done it right, so i did it for the third and final time. After i was done wedging my clay into a ball, I stuck my thumb into the center of the ball of clay. I started to pinch the ball of clay on all sides, which soon became a "pot-like shape". When I was happy with the shape of my pot, I started to carve in desigs around the pot with a needle and I also used a fork. When i was finished, I then waited for my pot to be fired. When my pot was fired, i then glazed it. After it was done being glaszed, my pot was finished.

Wire Sculpture

For my first project in ceramics, I made a jellyfish out of wire. First I started off trying to make a giaffe but it wasn't turning out how i planned. I soon started to put together a jellyfish. I took the wire and bent it into an oval shape for the body then i attatched three legs to the body. After I was finished, I ripped pieces of newspaper into shreds and and dipped it into glue. As soon as parts of the body of my jellyfish were covered in newspaper, I waited about two days for it to dry. Once it was dry, I mixed the blue/purple color with white. Then, I painted the newspaper. Once the paint was dry, my jellyfish was finished.
